§ Private Observing
I host private star parties in some of the darkest skies in the continental United States, under Bortle 2 desert nights about two hours from Tucson. Whether it's a couple's evening, a family gathering, or a corporate team outing, I bring the telescopes, the optics, and a few decades of curiosity.
A typical evening begins at dusk with binocular astronomy and constellation orientation, transitions into telescope observing of the night's best targets (galaxies, nebulae, double stars, the moon, or planets when in season), and concludes with deep-sky highlights through a large-aperture reflector. I'll point things out, answer questions, and let you actually sit at the eyepiece.
Star parties are not available for booking at this time, but please feel free to get in touch if you're interested in future opportunities; I'll reach out when the calendar opens.
WeatherIf skies don't cooperate, we reschedule at no charge. Southern Arizona averages 280+ clear nights a year, so this is rare.
Moon phaseDeep sky observing is best within a week of new moon. I'll suggest dates accordingly when you reach out.
LocationThe site sits roughly 120 minutes from Tucson on a remote off-grid property. Bring layers — desert temps drop fast at night.
AccessibilityThe viewing pad is flat and accessible. Reach out if you have specific needs.
